So Lucky To B Me™ is the realization of a dream and embodiment of my own survival. It is a company founded with a heartfelt mission to inspire girls and women, to realize they are beautiful simply by being who they are.
When I faced divorce after many years as a stay-at-home mother and wife, I found myself raising my three children in a world that seemed to prize only material wealth and superficial beauty. I began to build the So Lucky To B Me line of elegant,
comfortable casual wear, in an effort to resist this mentality, to stand on my own two feet, and to offer women of all ages and sizes encouragement and inspiration.
I believe that we all have so many reasons to feel lucky. Yet, every day, it is beyond easy to slip into forgetting who we really are and what is really important; it’s all too easy to buy into the notion that we are not good enough, not smart enough, not tall enough, not fast enough, not pretty enough, not thin enough, not rich enough—simply not enough.
I find this especially important in todays society. It becomes increasingly more difficult for young women to ever feel “good enough” with the images being put out there. It is reasonable to want to be the best you, but it is impractical to encourage females to try to achieve unattainable goals of superficial beauty and material wealth.
Our teens are suffering from low self esteem because they don’t have the “right look”, wear the “right size” or even carry a designer handbag. This makes them vulnerable to bullies and peer pressure. We all know that can lead to depression, drug addiction, eating disorders and far worse. As a society if we are going to look to this generation to be “our future” then we need to build them up, show them they are valuable for what’s on the inside.
I want to change that. I want all of us—every woman—to recognize that real beauty shines forth from a happy, fulfilled soul. I want to help each woman know that finding that happiness and fulfillment is a journey, and that the prize is the knowledge that she is worthy; she is beautiful; and she is capable.
When we recognize these powerful truths, we will know that our value will not be determined by our age, the size we wear, or the color of our hair, but by our character and compassion. A life lived with this knowledge will be one defined by loving, giving, nurturing, and accepting. This will be a life well-lived.
As you read through the quotes that appear on the pieces I’ve created, know that you are reading into my heart. Each quote offers a glimpse of my journey and the lessons I have learned. I hope that these quotes serve as a gentle, inspiring reminder that you are a glorious creation, defined not by your material possessions but by your smile, your laugh, your hopes, your dreams and thoughts, your love, and even your imperfections.
My hope is that you slip into your new shirt and love it—and then live your life smiling, laughing, giving, believing in you, dreaming your dreams, loving and allowing yourself to be loved. Trust in all that is good, and, most of all, know you are so lucky to be you because you are more than enough. And when you need that gentle reminder, just remember your inspiration is right there on your back…
Luck Always,
